Hsinchu

Hsinschu, also known as Xinzhu, is a province in the North of Taiwan. The area from the West coast to the interior of the island consists mostly of high-altitude plains, with mountains as you proceed further towards the interior.

A high humidity and a lot of fog are typical for this area. The climate is mild, like in most of Taiwan. Green, oolong and black teas are all being cultivated in this lesser-known tea-producing region. Notably, a number of very high quality teas also have their origin here. The Oriental Beauty , also known as Bai Hao Dong Fan Mei Ren, and Honey Oolong, or Mi Xiang Oolong, are the most highly valued teas of Hsinchu.
