Nantou

Nantou is the most central province of Taiwan; it is also the second largest and is fully land-locked. Nantou is quite mountainous and has a low population density.

Surrounding Nantou, are several other, well-known tea-producing provinces. Nantou itself is the number one province in terms of amounts of tea produced; but this concerns mostly tea of medium quality. However, oolongs of a very high quality are being produced on Nantou’s two mountains, Dong Ding (also called Tung Ting) and Shan Li. In addition the region is known for its role in tea processing; probably the result of its central location. Tea produced in other regions is being transported to Nantou to be turned into its final product. Although Nantou is mostly known for its oolongs, some black tea is produced there as well. For example Sun Moon Lake Ruby 18. You can find this honey-sweet, full tea with a whiff of cinnamon and eucalyptus in its aftertaste, in our range.

The Dong Ding Oolong , Amber Oolong and Empress Oolong teas also come from this area.
