This black tea is grown near the coast of the Pacific Ocean. The aromatic, light-astringent tea lives fully up to its name: it has an unmistakable taste of honey. This is the result of a bite of the tea leaf, by grasshoppers, during its growth. A strong aftertaste, a full flavour and, apart from honey, also shades of caramel and aromatic spices make this a really high-class black tea.
The origin
On the East coast of Taiwan, in Taitung province, is the Lu-Yeh region, known for its production of high quality Honey Black and Dark Pearl Oolong. In the forested area of the Eastern mountain area, people grow the Bold-Leaf Oolong, the Chin-shin, Ginshuan and Cuiyu varieties, that our Honey Black is made of. The tea gardens are situated around a beautiful lake. They are plucked once a year, in summer, for the production of this black tea. Tea Master Kun-Jin Liao supervises the traditional processing. After the harvest the leaves are withered and then undergo a process of stewing and stirring. Further oxidation occurs by shaking of the leaves. Frying, rolling and drying constitute the final steps in this process.
