Taipei

Taipei County lies in Northern Taiwan. In 2010 this province was renamed New Taipei City, but in the tea world the name Taipei County is still being used.

Stretching from the Northern coast into the interior is a range of fairly high mountains. The climate is subtropical with a high humidity. Summers last long and are very hot and humid with, at times, heavy rains and typhoons. The winters are short, but still warm and foggy. Most of the region is quite built-up, especially towards Taipei City. Away from the buildings one can find the tea plantations. Pinglin is a well-known area in the South East of the region and is known for its production of pouchong. This is where the Wenshan Pouchong Oolong from HAO TCHA comes from. The Tippy Green has its origin in the Southern area of Sanshia (where people also grow a lot of sweet potatoes and bamboo).
